Book the culprits: Hakeem, Tarigami

Srinagar, May 21: Terming the unabated infant deaths at GB Pant Hospital as murder, senior mainstream leaders Muhammad Yousuf Tarigami and Hakim Muhammad Yasin have urged government to lodge an FIR to initiate criminal proceedings against the hospital management and the erring doctors. 
 They also demanded compensation for parents who have lost their infants due to what they said human negligence in the hospital. They have further said that mere visits by government functionaries and politicians to the medical facility were not enough.
 “Here is the government that is unable to even lodge an FIR into the incident even after 380 infants have already died since January,” CPI (M) State Secretary Muhammad Yousuf Tarigami told KNS on Monday. He said that the deaths were the result of human negligence hence tantamount to murder. Tarigami said, “Government must compensate these families and lodge an FIR immediately.”
 PDF Chairman and MLA Khansahab Hakeem Muhammad Yasin also demanded ex-gratia relief for the victim families and said that mess at the hospital was unfortunate. “We strongly demand that an FIR be lodged into the incident so that culprits can be booked and punished severely,” Yasin said.
