Prohibitory orders in Srinagar
Srinagar, May 21: The state government Monday promulgated prohibitory orders in Srinagar for a period of two months “to ensure peace and tranquility in the summer capital”, an official spokesman said.
“The District Magistrate has imposed section 144 CrPC to prevent any kind of breach of peace and tranquility in the Srinagar district,” the spokesman said.
Under the order, there would be restrictions on assembly of five or more persons within the territorial limits of the Srinagar district, he said.
“However, the order will not be applicable to government-sponsored functions, marriages, funerals, cremations and examinations,” the spokesman said. The order would remain in force for a period of two months.
