1 killed, 7 injured in Sonamarg mishap
Srinagar, May 22: A person was killed and seven others were injured when a vehicle they were traveling in skidded off into the Sindh Nallah near Rezin in Sonamarg on Tuesday.
Officials said Idrees Ahmad of Uttar Pradesh died on the spot and eight others were injured when the Xylo Vehicle (JK07 2560), they were traveling, in skidded into the Nallah.
They said seven persons were rescued by the local divers and two journalists with assistance of police and fire service personnel. However, till reports last came in, one of the passengers was still missing.
“The injured were rushed to Public Health Center, Gund where they were provided medical assistance. Their condition is stable now,” they said.
Divisional Commissioner, Kashmir Dr Asgar Samoon and IGP, Civil Defence, Yoginder Kaul said that the rescuers will be rewarded.
