Article 370 will always be protected: NC
Srinagar, May 22: National Conference General Secretary Sheikh Nazir Ahmad Tuesday said that “NC is the only party in the state which has a representative character in all three regions of the state.”
He said the Chief Minister Omar Abdullah is committed to ensure equitable development of all the regions.
“The party leadership restored democratic rights of the people. No one can forget the contribution of Sheikh Muhammad Abdullah who gave voting rights to the people to choose their leaders,” Ahmad said in a statement.
He said that “with article 370, our state holds a special status unlike the other states and many vested interests are trying to weaken this position.”
But, he said, the NC leadership will never let anyone dilute that position.
“Many political parties have only one agenda and that is to weaken the National Conference at the grassroots level,” Ahmad said. “The enemies of National Conference are aware about the fact that National Conference is the only party that protects the political rights of the people. The people must remain cautious and at the same time ensure that party is strengthened at the grassroots level.”
