COUPLE CRUSHED; 22 WOUNDED IN POONCH MISHAP
JAMMU, May 22: In a tragic accident a couple was crushed to death by a ‘rashly’ driven truck outside MAM College, here on Tuesday.
The deceased couple was identified as Dheeraj Singh son of Kaisar Singh and his wife Manmohan Kour of Exchange Road, Jammu. The woman was serving in Jammu Development Authority as senior assistant.
Police said that the couple was on their way from Bikram Chowk towards Railway Station when the scooter, they were riding, was hit by a truck near MAM College. The duo received critical injuries and was rushed to the Government Medical College Hospital Jammu, where they breathed last.
Meanwhile, police said at least 22 persons were injured, three of them seriously, when a matador fell into a river in Poonch district.
The vehicle skidded off the road and fell down into the river near Poonch town, resulting in injuries to 22 people, they said.
The injured were rushed to a nearby hospital from where three seriously injured have been referred to Government Medical College hospital in Jammu, they said
