GOVT SAYS MULTI-LAYERED PARKING NEED OF THE HOUR
MOS Home inspects SDA, SMC parking lots, seeks upgradation
SRINAGAR, MAY, 22: For management of traffic and to provide adequate parking lots to the commuters, Minister of State for Home, Nasir Aslam Wani Wednesday said there was dire need to construct multi-layered parking facilities, and upgradation of existing ones in the City.
The Minister said this during the inspection of SDA and SMC parking lots in and around the City this afternoon.
The Minister was accompanied by Deputy Commissioner Srinagar, Vice Chairman, SDA, Deputy Inspector General of Police Traffic, SSP Srinagar, Additional Commissioner, Kashmir, and senior officers of SDA and SMC.
He asked the VC SDA to upgrade the existing parking lots at the earliest and make them paid parking slots for the better management so that the commuters do not face any inconvenience.
The Minister said for long term measures the detailed project reports are being made to construct multi -layered parking lots at Sheikh Bagh and near State Motor Garages parking slot at Press Enclave where sufficient land is available to SDA for the purpose.
“The Minister inspected KMD, State Bank, State Garage and Sheikh Bagh parking slots and gave some necessary instructions for up gradation and maintenance of these slots,” an official handout said.
During the inspection, the Minister was informed that a proposal has already been made for outsourcing all the SDA parking slots for their better management and functioning.
