Construction of state-of-art stadium at Pampore on anvil: Chib
Srinagar, May 23: Minister for Medical Education, Youth Service and Sports R S Chib today said that a state-of-art sports stadium equipped with modern gadgets shall be constructed at Pampore in Pulwama district.
The Minister said this while chairing a high level meeting of officers of Youth Services & Sports (YSS), State Sports Council and Army convened to review the pace of progress on sports projects being executed in the district.
MLA Pampore, Zahoor Ahmad Mir was also present in the meeting.
The Minister said that the coalition government under the dynamic leadership of Chief Minister Omar Abdullah is committed to upgrade sports infrastructure in the state for promotion of sports, adding that various micro, medium and mega sports projects have been taken up for the purpose.
The Minister directed Secretary, Sports Council to speed up the pace of work on renovation and upgradation of Pavilion of Stadium at Pulwama for the benefit of youth. He also directed for fencing and channeling of Tanchibagh stadium.
Speaking on the occasion, MLA Zahoor Ahmad urged for developing adequate sports infrastructure in the area. He assured to provide adequate funds out of his Constituency Development Funds (CDF) for raising sports infrastructure in the constituency as he has already announced Rs. 7 lakh for the purpose.
It was decided in the meeting that Committee headed by Commissioner Secretary, YSS will visit the stadium site at Pampore to suggest the measures for drainage system for disposal of accumulated water in the ground so that the construction of the proposed stadium is started.
