Punish guilty

This refers to the condition of G.B Pant hospital. Administrators and politicians led by a doctor (former HOD) reportedly indulged in prescribing spurious drugs of shoddy Pharma companies with blessing of administrators and politicians. One must be insane to prescribe such fake medicine to the newborns. These kinds of cases should also force us to consider the culture that allowed such a fraud to take root and go on for years.  Such doctors continue to use patients as 'grist' for their pockets. If there is a bad doctor or hospital putting profits before people, newborns in this case, the public has a right to know. The penalties should be severe not only for the alleged former HoD but also for the leaders who give patronage to what is going on and yet remain silent. This is an epidemic that has spread to almost all government run hospitals in valley, be it tertiary care units, sub-district hospitals, PHCs or other health facilities. And it has to be brought under control and involved rogues have to be punished immediately. The present set up is far from ideal and necessary steps have to be implemented to stem the rot.
