No phone access to Civil Secretariat Sgr!
Official Site Provides Numbers Of Jammu Offices Only
ASHWANI LANGEH
Jammu, May 24: Call it official apathy or undermining the significance of the Right to Information Act, the Civil Secretariat Srinagar is virtually out of bounds for people due to non-availability of official telephone numbers in public domain.
The official website of the General Administration Department (GAD) of the state government jkgad.nic.in, in its Telephone Directory portal, has the phone numbers of Jammu Civil Secretariat only, that too of the year 2010-11. There is no information about the phone numbers of the secretariat in the summer capital.
According to observers, it is for this reason, the Civil Secretariat Srinagar, where from the Government is presently operating, is out of bounds for people and officials from regions of Jammu and Ladakh and those who want to contact officers of the Secretariat from other places.
Asserting that it was a "lapse on part of the state government," the President Jan Jagriti Manch (JJM) Jammu Parveen said: "The state government makes tall claims on e-governance. It should have provided phone numbers of government offices situated in Srinagar after the Darbar moved to the summer capital. It is very difficult to contact officers or ministers on their office numbers in absence of phone numbers on the official website of the state government. Common people are facing many problems on this account."
