The act of suicide

And the pain of loss

LIFE

ISAAR KASHMIRI

Failures are viewed as the pillars of success. Anything on which the edifice of success rests can never be an undesirable thing. Today life is very fast and only a few can keep pace with it. The rest fail and get emotionally disturbed when they do not get what they expect or struggle for in life. The state of mind they find themselves in is known as frustration.
This frustration leads to disappointment and disappointment to various detrimental consequences, and among those, suicide is the most dreadful one. But why commit suicide? It can be a valuable question for all of us. But for the person who chooses to die instead of living with his loved ones, it is a worthless inquiry. In his opinion it is the wisest way to get freedom from miseries of the life. Factually he fails to understand the significance of miseries and troubles in one’s life. Wise people say that miseries are the best school where one can learn the beautiful ramifications of human life. If the life is dull, it becomes charmless, and when there are surges of troubles in it, the most precious things inside come out and make the person to know himself better. Suicide rate is less in developed societies and alarming in underprivileged societies. For quite a while now, we come across the incidents of suicide almost on a routine basis. People mostly young ones day by day get accustomed to suicide. No religious or social amalgamation comes forward to take the initiative to help such people. Even NGOs have taken a back seat in this behalf. Arnold J. Toynbee says, “Civilizations die from suicide, not by murder.”
Why one chooses to slit his throat or kill himself by electrocution?  Why one tightens the noose around his own neck? Is it so easy to do? An obvious reason is that young people born in today’s world are growing up with a pessimistic attitude. In today’s world, as they think, they have less options of living a happy life. They are ignorant of moral and social values. They are fed everything except religion. And so, they commit suicide. Such an act of suicide expresses the outlook of that person and his individual conditions. From the philosophical point of view, suicide is the outcome of the worst form of moral management as it leads to embarrassment, remorse and of course pain for those left behind.
Suicide actually is like an attempt to kill others rather than killing one’s own self. It is a terrible way of getting revenge as the people won’t remember the person who commits suicide after a week or so. And the people who love him will have to live with the pain of loss for the rest of their lives.
