JK gymnasts to participate in world championship
Jammu, May 25: Minister for Youth Services and Sports, RS Chib on Friday accorded a ceremonial send off to seven gymnasts of Jammu and Kashmir, who shall represent India in the 12th World Aerobic Gymnastics Championship, scheduled to be held at Sofia, the capital of Bulgaria from May 29 to June 3.
These gymnasts have been selected on the basis of their performance in the 11th National Gymnastics Championship held at Vadodara, Gujarat, where the J&K team won 6 gold, 3 silver and 1 bronze and lifted the championship.
The J&K gymnasts in the Indian team include Tej Pal Kour, Honey Mehra, Gourav Sharma, Inderdeep Singh, Mayank Jain, Jaskaran Singh and Parul Mehra.
The Minister, while blessing the gymnasts, lauded their accomplishment and appreciated the efforts of the coaches for producing international gymnasts from the state. He also enumerated the initiatives undertaken by the government for development of sports across the state.
The Minister also congratulated the parents of the gymnastics for their wards being selected in such a big event. He said that the selection of the seven gymnastics from the state for international event shows the dedication and devotion of the gymnastics and coaches. He also lauded the Coach S. P. Singh of Jammu for being selected as one of the Indian Coach in the 12th World Aerobic Gymnastics Championship.
