Srinagar, May 28: Barely a few feet away from the Police Station Kothi Bagh burglars last night broke open two shops in the City centre decamping with cash and other valuables, complainants said.
They said the burglars broke open the locks of at least two shops –Habsun, which deals with leading electronic brands and Gushan Books, a bookshop.
The traders said it was second burglary strike on the Habsun within a month adding that cash was stolen in the recent attempt.
The Gulshan Books people said the burglars had managed to break open the shop “but didn’t steal anything other than meager cash of Rs 1500.” “May be they weren’t interested in the reading lot,” the traders said.
Meanwhile the Regal Chowk Traders Association President Manzoor Ul Haque has condemned the theft having taken place “under the nose of police station Kothi Bagh.”
Haque told Greater Kashmir that the traders association will hold a meeting Tuesday to decide future course of action in the wake of the theft.
