JKP to organize cycle race on Mughal road soon: Rajendra
Srinagar, May 29: The Jammu and Kashmir Police is going to organize the cycle race from Shopian to Poonch via Mughal Road and Sonamarg to Leh during current summer season for the participation of youth of the valley to give the boost among young Cycle race lovers.
The Additional director General of Police (ADGP), K Rajendra Kumar disclosed that Jammu and Kashmir Police will soon organize cycle race for the youth of the Valley in the month of June and July this summer season.
He was addressing the sports lovers on the occasion of final match of volleyball tournament organized under the series of Youth Development Tournament held at Polo-ground here this evening.
Rajendra said that volleyball tournament was organized by the department under its civic action programme, which was inaugurated on 25th May and concluded here today. In all 16 teams from various districts of the Valley were enrolled for on knock out basis and played the matches during the Tournament at different venues.
The ADGP said that the matches were played between the teams include Gutlibagh Volleyball team, Nishat Volley team, Young Boys United Club, Polo Ground Volleyball Club, Super Six Volleyball Club, Rainwari Volleyball Club , Zaloora Volleyball Club, Amar Singh volleyball Club, Downtown Volleyball Club, Challenger Volleyball Club, University of Kashmir Volleyball Club and Srinagar Volleyball Club.
The final match was played between Royal Sports and Valley Sport which was bagged by Royal Sports by 3-1.
At the conclusion, the mementos and trophies were distributed among the winning teams. The participant teams thanked the J&K Armed Police for organizing such types of tournament and hoped that during the summer months various other sports events would also be organized in various parts of the valley.
Among others, the function was attended by Deputy Inspector General of Police, (Armed), Sheikh Abdul Hamid, Commandants of Armed and IRP Kashmir based battalions besides large number of sports lovers.
