North Kashmir plunges into darkness

Baramulla, May 29: Power supply in north Kashmir was badly affected after some panels of water conductor in the 105 MW capacity Lower Jehlum Hydel Project suffered damage on Tuesday.
 Sources said 9 RCC panels of the left bank of water conductor which carries a discharge of about 7200 cu feet per second have suffered “extensive damage.”
 They said the damage has been caused due to draw down conditions which usually occurs when there is sudden closure of gates which results in negative pressure.
 The PDC officials said: "We are trying to rectify the fault and hope that it will be repaired soon.”
