Nocturnal sanitation irks Regal Chowk shopkeepers
Srinagar, May 3: The shopkeepers of Regal Chowk have appealed the Srinagar Municipal Corporation (SMC) of delaying the nocturnal sanitation in the area so that the drive starts after the shops are shut.
“They (sweepers) start their work at about 7:30 pm which is too early to close shops and due to this the dust gathered outside directly comes in our shops,” said Muhammad Amin Mir, a dry fruit shopkeeper.
Another trouble which shopkeepers claim are facing is the dumping of wastage on road side near these shops. “The placing of wastage on road sides near our shops drives customers away,” said Manzoor ul Haque, president of Shopkeepers Association.
The shopkeepers appeal SMC authorities to look into the matter and take necessary steps in this regard.
