Soldier killed in militant ambush

Kishtwar May 3: A soldier was killed when militants opened fire on an army patrol in this mountainous district police said on Thursday.
A police officer said the militants fired upon an army patrol on late Wednesday night near Kulna village in Palmar area killing a soldier of Territorial Army Noor Hussain (Sena Medal recipient).
“Noor Hussain is the fourth force personnel killed in an ongoing operation launched by the forces to track down Hizb militants involved in September 7, 2011 Delhi High Court blast” the officer added.
He said the forces launched a fresh operation in the wee hours this morning which was on when reports last came in.

Meanwhile, a Police spokesman said that that a hand grenade was found at Shiekhpora village in central Kashmir’s Budgam district on Thursday. “The device was lying in an open area near an automobile workshop,” he added.
