Div Com stresses for disaster management awareness

Srinagar, May 4: A five days disaster preparedness training program organized by Civil Defence and Disaster Management Authority concluded Friday at Government High School Pantha Chowk while Divisional Commissioner Kashmir, Dr. Asgar Hassan Samoon who was the chief guest stressed for holding of such programs.
Dr Samoon said the government has already formulated a comprehensive State Disaster Management Policy and in this connection a proposal has been mooted for establishing a State Disaster Management Institute at Bemina.
District Development Commissioner and Chairman, District Disaster Management Authority, Baseer Ahmed Khan , Director Information, Khawaja Farooq Renzushah and DIG, Civil Defence and Home Guards Mubarak Ahmed Ganai also spoke on the occasion.
“Meanwhile, Divisional Commissioner Kashmir announced award of Rs.10,000 in favour of the School for providing education to the poor and needy children, Rs 10,000 was announced by Executive Director J&K Bank Tafazul Hussain.
“Rs 5,000 by Executive Director, AM Mir, J&K Voluntary Health Association for the efforts made by the school in declaring the school and area tobacco free, Rs 5,000 were announced by Regional Director, Pollution Control Board, AM Dar for the measures taken by the school for improving the environment and making the school polythene free,” the handout added.
