Reviews developmental projects in Kangan

Srinagar, May 4: Minister for Forests and Environment, Mian Altaf Ahmad chaired a meeting of district administration here to review the ongoing welfare and development works in Kangan constituency, an official spokesman said on Friday.   
 The meeting was attended by District Development Commissioner, Ganderbal, Showkat Ahmad Mir, engineers of various disciplines and Executive Engineer, PMGSY and other senior district officers, he added.
 “The Minister was informed that under Phase 3 to Phase 7, 28 road projects stand sanctioned. Out of which, three schemes have been completed while 25 are under various phases of completion. These road projects are coming up at Rs 71 crores and 102 Kms road length is being constructed. Out of estimated cost of Rs 62 crore stand sanctioned upto ending March 2012 and an amount of Rs 25.74 crores have been expended on the project so far. These road networks would provide road connectivity to 40 habitations of the constituency,” he said.
 “Reviewing the progress achieved under R&B sector in Kangan, the Minister was told that work on 11 schemes is apace under NABARD which are coming up at Rs 24.70 crore while under State Sector Rs 1.50 crore are being spent on upgradation and development of Chunar road,” the spokesman said.
 Mian Altaf, he said, was informed that under Education sector, 48 schools have been established in the Constituency employing 96 ReT’s while 44 schools were upgraded providing employment to 84 ReT’s while, 3 middle schools were upgraded to high school level. “He was informed that under RMSA 50 percent funds have been released for augmentation and upgradation of schools in the constituency,” the spokesman said.
 “The meeting revealed that under SSA and KGBV, two boarding schools are being established for ST, SC, girl students during this fiscal. Besides, 51 additional blocks for 9 primary schools of the constituency are being constructed,” he added.
