Pulwama Chinar cup begins
Srinagar, May 4: The 2nd Inter-district Cricket Tournament, Kashmir Premier League (Chinar Cup) Pulwama organised by 55 RR (Grenadiers) under the aegis of 12 Sector RR/HQ Victor force and HQ 15 Corps started at Pulwama sports stadium on Thursday.
The competition is aimed at encouraging the youth of Pulwama district to develop sportsmanship spirit and select a district level team which will represent Pulwama district in Chinar Cup, a defence handout said.
In the event around 25 teams from various villages of Pulwama district are participating. It will be played on a league cum knock-out basis. The final is scheduled to be played on May 24.
The tournament was inaugurated by GOC counter insurgency force (Victor), Cdr 12 Sector RR while DC Pulwama and SSP Pulwama also graced the opening ceremony The first match was played between Pulwama Red and Kakapora Kangaroos.
Meanwhile the first edition of this tournament was played last year in which 8 teams of Pulwama district played a league cum knockout tournament in which Dangerpora Dragons lifted the trophy defeating Bunera Bulls by 22 runs.
