Div Com chairs meeting on Jehangir Chowk flyover proposal
Srinagar May 5: Divisional Commissioner Dr Asgar Hassan Samoon chaired the Divisional Level Committee meeting for rehabilitation of the structures coming on the alignment of the proposed flyover at Jehangir Chowk.
An official handout said the meeting was attended by Deputy Commissioner Srinagar Baseer Ahmed Khan, Chief Engineer R&B Kashmir, Mushtaq Ahmed Lone, Director (Central) ERA, Khalid Muzaffar, Chief Conservator Forests Manzoor Ahmed Khan, Additional DC Srinagar, MA Qadri, Superintending Engineers of PHE, ERA, EMRE and UEED.
“ERA is presently executing construction of flyover from Jahangir Chowk to Rambagh-Natipora at a cost of Rs. 292 Crore. The project involves acquisition of land to the extent of around 40 kanals and 60 structures. The necessary notifications under Section-4 of the Land Acquisition Act for acquisition of the land have been issued by the Collector Land Acquisition, ERA,” an official handout said.
Div Com directed that the people affected by the project be properly compensated, as per the norms.
A commercial complex is being constructed near Exhibition Grounds through JKPCC Ltd which will have 4-floors plus semi-basement floor for parking of vehicles/ control-units for services and rehabilitation of the affected shopkeepers, the handout said.
