BPL T20 cricket tourney begins

Baramulla, May 6: Baramulla Premier League (BPL) T-20 cricket tournament organised by 46RR in collaboration with Sports Council started at Professor Showkat Ali Stadium here on Saturday.
The event was declared open by General Officer Commanding (GOC) SSP Baramulla and Deputy Commissioner, Baramula, Bashir Ahmed Bhat.
In the inaugural match, Baramulla Reds defeated FCC Fatehpora by a huge margin of 59 runs after scoring 137 runs while as FCC Fatehpora chasing the target could score only 78 runs as the wickets fell like a pack of cards.
Speaking on the occasion, General Officer Commanding (GOC) said the aim of the BPL is to exploit the talent of youth in cricket.
He said that it would also provide an opportunity to the deserved and interested youth to expose their talent.
Meanwhile on Sunday four matches were played on two venues of the district.
In the first match, played between Khawajabagh sports and BCC Blues at Shaukat Ali Stadium. BCC Blues defeated Khawajabagh Sports seven wickets while in second match BCC Green defeated Jubilant Old Town by 49 runs.
At Jehlum Stadium, Gold Star Stadium defeated Baramula Sports Azadgunj by seven wickets in first match while Singhpora-XI defeated Ushkara Cricket Club by 20 runs.
