ISC to celebrate silver jubilee today

Srinagar, May 6: The Kashmir based International Sqay Council (ISC) is celebrating its silver jubilee of formation by organising various events on Monday.
The organisation was formed on May 7, 1987 at Drangbal Pampore Kashmir with the aim to promote Sqay traditional martial art of Kashmir in world arena.
“The council has worked hard for the promotion of sqay and conducted many events world wide,” said secretary general and founder, ISC, Mir Nazir.
The council has so for conducted one world championship and second is scheduled to be held at Egypt in October, he said.
“Apart from world event we have already organised two Asian championships, two South Asian championships and participated twice in international martial art games and conducted three international events,” he said.
He said that the council is conducting regular International Masters Cup at Pahalgam from last three years and apart from that all the affiliated unites of the council are conducting regular national and international events in there respective country's.
About the activities of Sqay martial art in India and Kashmir he said, “The Sqay Federation of India has so for conducted 12 national championships in all age groups, five national high altitude coaching camps while sixth is scheduled from June 1 to 6 at Pahalgam”.
He said that on the occasion of completion of 25 years of foundation the council across the world will be conducting seminars, exhibition matches, demonstrations and championships.
Within the couple of years we are hope full that Sqay will be a popular event in world arena like other martial arts.We are working hard for the development of this unique traditional Martial of Kashmir in world arena. The main aim of the council is to include Sqay in International Martial Art Games 2014 at Kyrgyzstan organised by International Olympic Committee and we are hopeful that Sqay will be included in this big event as a competitive sport,” Mir said.
