Shadab Lane needs more water
THE drinking water facility in the Shadab Lane, Usmania Colony (Bagh-e-Mehtab) is almost non-existent. The Usmania Colony is fed from the Over Head Tank (OHT) once upon a time constructed for the Government Colony at Bagh-e-Mehtab, Srinagar.
The OHT is not sufficient to the meet the demand of drinking water of the Usmania Colony. Nowadays the providing of drinking water to even far-flung areas is a priority for the Government but it is nowhere in the documents for the human population of Shadab Lane, Usmania Colony. It is matter of just three pipe lengths to connect the Shadab Lane with the regular water supply line but who will care for the population where people donít come on the roads.
The annual fee chargeable from each household water connection is same for such areas where drinking water is provided 24x7 and of AAA quality, whereas namesake drinking water is provided to Shadab Lane, Usmania Colony for ten to twenty minutes daily that too of inferior quality: full of mud and untreated.
Should the residents of Shadab Lane, Usmania Colony pay same amount of fee for no water as is being paid by the residents of other areas who are provided regular water supply of very good quality and uninterrupted?
