Uprising in Hurriyat (M)
General Council Hits Out At Executive Council

Srinagar, May 7: Bringing to surface the cracks in the Hurriyat Conference (M), various constituents of the conglomerate Monday came out openly against Muslim Conference chief Prof Abdul Gani Bhat for his reported statement that UN resolutions on Kashmir had become irrelevant.
Addressing a joint press conference here, senior separatist leaders, Including Nayeem Ahmed Khan, Azam Inquilabi, Bashir Ahmad Bhat, Javaid Ahmad Mir, Hilal War and others castigated Prof Bhat for what they said, “Violating Hurriyat constitution.”
Asserting that executive members of the Hurriyat (M) are monopolizing the amalgam, patron of Mahazi Azadi, Azam Inquilabi said: “Executive Council of the forum is trying to monopolize the Hurriyat (M). They are bypassing the general council. They don’t take the general council into confidence and Sunday’s show at Botengo is the glaring example of this. They talked about certain things which were never discussed in the general council.”
On Prof Bhat’s statement that UN resolutions are no more relevant, Inquilabi said: “UN resolutions form the bedrock and base of the Kashmir issue. These resolutions guarantee our right to self determination,” Inquilabi said.
Inquilabi also made an appeal to heads of both factions of Hurriyat Conference to constitute a broad-based Majlis-e-Shoora (Consultative Council). “The Majlis-e-Shoora should comprise of all the senior and junior stalwarts of the resistance moment.”
Chairman of National Front chairman, Nayeem Ahmed Khan said, “This is utter violation of Hurriyat constitution. And whosoever violates it, he ceases to be member of the conglomerate. We are the creators of the movement. We will not allow any person to redirect or misdirect it. The Hurriyat has a constitution and those who don’t follow it have no place in the amalgam. The movement does not belong to any party or person.”
On Prof Bhat’s reported remarks regarding separatists joining hands with mainstream parties for resolution of Kashmir issue, Khan said: “Hands of pro-India politicians are soaked with the blood of Kashmiris. We can’t even think of joining hands with them.”
JKLF (H) chairman, Javaid Ahmed Mir came down heavily on Prof Bhat. “From 1988 they have been reiterating that Kashmir issue should be resolved by implementing UN resolutions. But now they are saying that these are obsolete. People have not given mandate to anybody to decide their future. We are responsible of sacrifices rendered by the people. APHC was recognized by India, Pakistan and international community, but they (leaders) should respect its constitution.”
Hilal Ahmed War, chairman of Peoples Political Party said that statement of Prof Bhat is nothing new. “He had said it in 2006. Why are leaders reacting so late. Why did they remain silent for six years. Another important issue was disclosure by wikileaks, but all leaders maintained silence over it” War told Greater Kashmir.
Others who were present on the occasion included vice-chairman of JKLF Bashir Ahmed Bhat, Tahir Ahmad Mir, Muhammad Iqbal Mir, Muhammad Yousuf Naqash and Hakeem Rashid.
