Depute full-fledged VC to SDA: JKCCC
Srinagar, May 8: Jammu and Kashmir Contractors Coordination Committee (JKCCC) on Tuesday urged the State Government to depute full-fledged Vice–Chairman for the Srinagar Development Authority (SDA).
Currently Dr GN Qasba, Commissioner Srinagar Municipal Corporation holds additional charge of SDA.
“Adhocism is marring functioning of SDA. There is imperative need to send full fledged VC to SDA,” said chairman JKCCC Ghulam Geelani Purza, while addressing a press conference here.
Burza also castigated the Sales Tax department saying its officials are unnecessary harassing contractors.
“The approach of the Sales Tax Department is indifferent towards the contractors,” he said.
He asked the Government to focus on resolution of genuine problems of contractors.
“The contractors in the Valley due to various factors are confronted with unprecedented difficulties as a result of which it has a negative effect on the developmental works. Government owes Rs 164 crores to the contractors for executing various works. Despite submission of all data to the Commissioner Secretary Planning, the outstanding is yet to be cleared,” he said.
