Spare parts dealers fined
Drive to continue: Legal Metrology
GK NEWS NETWORK
Srinagar, Nov 10: The next time you go to buy car accessories or spare parts do check for MRP and other details like Consumer Grievance number or else the product could be faulty and overpriced, officials have said.
Prompted by public complaints that the spare-part shopkeepers of Rambagh-Barzulla area are allegedly charging exorbitantly for spare-parts and other vehicle accessories, a Legal Metrology team raided the markets and booked some traders for violating the norms, an official handout said.
“Under the Packaged Commodities Rules it is mandatory for every dealer of spare-parts to offer for sale only those parts/accessories which carry mandatory declarations such as MRP/Consumer Grievance cell No of Manufacturer/Packer etc. In absence of these declarations there remains every apprehension that the spare-part is local or substandard,” the official handout said.
“Some pieces of Seat-Covers/cushions were seized for not carrying the mandatory declarations. A Challan was made against spare-part dealer for violation of the aforesaid law,” the handout said adding the consumers are requested to look for mandatory declarations before making any purchase of spare-parts or other accessories.
