‘Give us bijli, sadak, pani’
Pahalgam: The residents of Badwan village of Ganeshpora are up in arms against the authorities for failing to provide them with basic amenities.
“Our area is yet to be connected through a road link and we have to walk several miles from Ganeshpora to reach our village,” said residents of Gujarbasti Badwan village.
They said that though survey for the road was carried years ago under the PMGYS but work is yet to be executed.
“Due to lack of road patients and elderly people faces many hardships. The problem gets complicated during winter. We urge the authorities to start work on the road at the earliest so that our sufferings are mitigated,” they said.
They said the area sans proper drinking water facility. “Despite being located near the Lidder river we crave for potable drinking water. Women folk have to travel several miles to fetch water,” said a villager Muhammad Subhan.
The village also sans electricity. “Ironically even in the twenty first century, our village has not been electrified,” the villagers rued. “We urge the Government to give us bijli, sadak, pani,” they demanded.
