Ajas Bridge

This refers to the news (GK 10 Nov 2012) about Ajas bridge. It has not given the correct structural condition of the bridge. Cracks shown in the picture one only surfaced localized cracks.  Ajas Bridge is located at Km 16.00 on Sumbal-Sonarwani   road which was constructed by state PWD in 1961.
BRO has taken this road on 09 Feb 2011 and since then this bridge is being maintained by Beacon. This bridge is a minor bridge of 12 mtrs length having twin span each of 06 mtrs. Its both abutments and a pier is safe and there is no danger to bridge as published in the newspaper. Its slab is also safe. Since, it is a twin span bridge, so to general public it appears as crack has developed in it at the centre and at ends but it is not so. Its construction is like this only as it is two span bridge so its spans rest at one end at abutment and on other end at pier (central). There is some gap kept between slabs of two spans. Bridge is structurally safe. Some plastering work is required only which will be done by Beacon.
