CM, Governor, Farooq, Muftis, Soz Greet People
Jammu, Nov 12: The festival of lights Diwali is being celebrated with religious fervor across the state Tuesday.
Chief Minister Omar Abdullah, Governor NN Vohra, Council of Ministers, Opposition leaders and legislators Monday extended Diwali greetings to the people.
In a statement here, Chief Minister extended his felicitation to people on Diwali, wishing them well being and prosperity.
In his Diwali message, the Chief Minister referred to the tradition and heritage of Jammu and Kashmir in celebrating festivals and holy occasions in an atmosphere of amity and brotherhood.
Governor NN Vohra also extended warm greetings to the people on Diwali and prayed for their well-being and prosperity. In a message of felicitations, the Governor observed that this festival symbolizes the triumph of truth and righteousness over falsehood and of good over evil.
Chairman Jammu and Kashmir Legislative Council Amrit Malhotra and Speaker Assembly Muhammad Akbar Lone felicitated the people of the State on the eve of Diwali.
The Council of Ministers also greeted the people on the eve of Diwali. These included Deputy Chief Minister Tara Chand, Minister for Finance Abdul Rahim Rather, Minister for Public Enterprises, Peerzada Muhammad Syed, Minister for PHE, Taj Mohi-ud-Din, Minister for Rural Development and Panchayat Raj, Ali Muhammad Sagar, Minister for Tourism and Culture, Nawang Rigzin Jora, Minister for CAPD, Qamar Ali Akhoon, Minister for Industries and Commerce, SS Slathia, Minister for Agriculture, Ghulam Hassan Mir, Minister for Medical Education, RS Chib, Minister for Forests, Mian Altaf Ahmad, Minister for Higher Education, Abdul Gani Malik, Minister for Social Welfare, Sakina Ittoo, Minister for Health, Sham Lal Sharma, Minister for Revenue, Raman Bhalla and Minister for Animal Husbandry Aga Syed Ruhullah Mehdi.
Minister of State for Home, Nasir Aslam Wani, Minister of State for CA&PD and Transport, Shabir Ahmed Khan, Minister of State for Hajj and Auqaf, Aijaz Ahmed Khan, Minister of State for R&B, Javed Ahmed Dar and Minister of State for Cooperative, Dr Manohar Lal Sharma also extended greetings on the occasion.
Advisors to Chief Minister Mubarak Gul and Devender Singh Rana have also felicitated the people of the state on Diwali and wished them happiness and prosperity.
Peoples Democratic party (PDP) Patron Mufti Muhammed Sayeed and President Mehbooba Mufti greeted the people of Jammu and Kashmir on Diwali, wishing everyone joy and happiness. The two leaders expressed hope that the festival would be a harbinger of peace and prosperity in the state.
In their greeting message, Mufti and Mehbooba hoped that the festival would further strengthen communal harmony, brotherhood, amity and secularism, which are the hallmarks of glorious composite cultural traditions of the country and the Jammu and Kashmir in particular.
State Congress chief Prof Saifuddin Soz also felicitated the people on the eve of Diwali.
State Secretary CPI (M) and MLA Kulgam MY Tarigami extended the Diwali greetings to the people of the State. In his message, Tarigami said that festivals are harbinger of peace, prosperity and symbolize mutual brotherhood.
The Director General of Police Ashok Prasad greeted all ranks of Jammu and Kashmir Police and their families on the auspicious occasion of Diwali. He expressed his hope that the festival would bring joy and happiness among the cops and their families.
The Additional Director General of Police, Armed/Law & Order (ADGP), K Rajendra Kumar also extended warm greetings to all ranks of Jammu and Kashmir Police, their family members and the people of the State on the auspicious eve of festival of lights Diwali.
In their messages, they said Diwali like festivals strengthen the bonds of love, amity, brotherhood and communal harmony amongst the people of different religions.
NC WISHES PEOPLE A HAPPY DIWALI
President of National Conference and Union Minister Dr Farooq Abdullah greeted the people on Diwali, wishing everyone joy and happiness.
In a statement, Dr Farooq said: “On the festive occasion of Diwali, I express my good wishes and happiness to all the people of the state and the country.”
Meanwhile the Party General Secretary Sheikh Nazir Ahmed, Additional General Secretary Dr Mustafa Kamal and party spokesman Tanvir Sadiq also greeted people on Diwali.
Democratic Freedom Party (DFP) chairman Shabir Ahmad Shah has also felicitated the people on Diwali.
