Manual scavenging
This refers to the news, 'Despite ban manual scavenging still prevalent in JK'. There is a need for the implementation of J&K Employment of Manual Scavengers and Construction of Dry Latrines (Probation) Act, 2010. Everyone tries to look at position of those employed as manual scavengers from rose-tinted glass, thinking them to be people from lower castes and perfect for the job. But only those who keenly observe them could feel their pain. Either manual scavenging has to be completely stopped and such people have to be rehabilitated, and 'we the tax payers' would be happy if state exchequer bleeds for genuine cause of their rehabilitation, or state should at least equip them with modern equipments and tools which will make their job a dignified one as 'right to live a dignified life' is a guaranteed right under Indian constitution.
