SKIMS reacts to public protests against incinerator
Says facility to operate as per SPCB guidelines

Srinagar, Nov 13: Reacting to news report on public protests against the SK Institute of Medical Sciences, Soura incinerator published on City Page on November 6, the SKIMS authorities Tuesday said “incinerator facility in SKIMS premises is strictly functioning under the guidelines of SPCB and is duly licensed by appropriate authority.”
“There is no other site within the SKIMS premises where it can be relocated and will not pose environmental hazards in nearby community,” the SKIMS Medical Superintendent said in a handout added.
“However there is a proposal to build an off site CBMWT facility before the authorities. Till such times SKIMS authorities will as unusual maintain strict Quality Control of Incinerator emissions as per SPCB guidelines and regulations.”
