After Sonwar, Shivpora resents PDD’s ‘inflated’ bills
Locals threaten to block Sgr-Jmu highway
GK NEWS NETWORK
Srinagar, Nov 15: Two days after angry protestors staged a protest demonstration outside Chief Minister’s residence at Gupkar against ‘inflated’ PDD bills, residents of Shivpora have threatened to stage protests on highway against the hike.
“We pay Rs 250 per month according to usage but the PDD has sent us bills charging us in thousands. This is absolutely illegal,” said a resident. “Ours is a metered area and we normally get a bill of not more than Rs 300 but the recent bill shows amount of Rs 1500. If the department doesn’t know the ground reality why is it charging us beyond the usage?” said, Mushtaq Ahmad, a resident.
The residents of Shivpora said for the last two months they have been even receiving limited hours of power supply. “The quantum of negligence is such that the department even curtails the supply to the area even as we pay monthly electricity fee. The department is charging us without knowing the ground reality. The officials must come on to see what our usage is and how much they are charging us,” said Muhammad Ayuob, another resident.
The residents have threatened if the department doesn’t provide them genuine bills, they would hold demos outside the Chief Minister’s residence and block Srinagar-Jammu highway.
