Kashmiri language

This refers to an article by learned advocate Bashir Ahmad Bashir titled " Mother tongue please. (GK November- 13 - 2012)
There is no doubt that Kashmiri language is one of the richest languages of the sub-continent which evolved with the earliest settlers here after land patches got evolved out of what was a vast water body the 'SATI SAR' or more precisely the remnants of the Tethyus Sea.
Mainly PICASAS were the earlier settlers here. Although if we dig deep this place was the habitat even of the Early man. As there are many references of pit dwellers of the Neolithic age around Burzuhama or for that matter Gufkral on the southern side.
And later Aryans settled here and things shaped and reshaped as times passed by. Arguably the settlements in Kashmir date back to some 5000 years and so is the 'Kashmiri civilisation' and its diverse binding constituents. Buddhism, Hinduism and later Islam flourished here.
Kashmir always was a historic centre---- a civilisation par excellence as one can extract after a thorough study of its enriched past.
Thus through the vast geographical, historic and linguistic cycles the art, language and cultural entity of this 'land of Sharda Peeth' got its shape chiseled. Things got associated things got dissociated but the main thread of our existence and ways of existence passed on.
As we received our cultural traits from our ancestors so we need to pass them down as our identity, language undoubtedly being the main constituent.
In the above backdrop it must be clear that as recipients of our rich heritage we must prove to be its good custodians and consequently its excellent ambassadors. But for that to happen we definitely need to feel proud of our roots, our belongings and our mother tongue.
Neglecting Kashmiri language will be a great disservice.
