MeT department predicts rain, snowfall on November 17-18
Srinagar, Nov 15: Divisional Commissioner Kashmir Dr Asgar Hassan Samoon Thursday ordered traffic restrictions on Kargil-Zanskar, Srinagar-Zojila-Kargil, Kupwara-Machil/Tangdhar and Bandipora-Gurez roads on 17th and 18th November as a precautionary measure.
An official spokesman said the restrictions are being imposed on the basis of Meteorological Department’s rain/snowfall forecast during the intervening night of November 17 and 18 in higher reaches of Kashmir and keeping in view the unpredictability of weather in higher reaches. “Dr Samoon directed Deputy Commissioners, Senior Superintendent of Police and Sub Divisional Magistrate along with Traffic Police to take appropriate measures to ensure strict implementation of the instructions to safeguard life and property of the general public,” the spokesman said.
