Police solves Noorbagh burglary case

Srinagar, Nov 15: Police on Thursday claimed to have solved a burglary case in Noorbagh area here by arresting a person and recovering 280 stolen Kashmiri shawls worth about Rs 18 lakh from his possession.
Conforming the arrest, the Superintendent of Police North City, Tahir Saleem Khan said on November, 8 Sajad Ahmad Zaz son of Ghulam Nabi Zaz of Firdous Colony Noorbagh lodged a complaint at Police Post Noorbagh that Kashmiri shawls worth Rs 18 lakh were stolen from his house on the night of November 8.
He said a special team headed by SDPO Maharaj Gunj, Dawood Ayoub was constituted which raided several places and rounded many suspects for questioning.
“During their sustained questioning we were able to arrest the key accused and on his disclosure 280 stolen Kashmiri shawls worth about Rs 18 lakh were recovered from different locations including Pampore. Two more accused in this case are absconding and are expected to be arrested soon,” the SP said.
