SHG engineers demand 35 pc quota
Srinagar, Nov 15: Valley-based Self Help Group of Engineers’ Association today urged the government to relax norms to pave way for local investors to participate in the development of hydro power projects in Jammu and Kashmir.
At a meeting with MD, J&K State Power Development Corporation at Jammu today, a delegation of the association headed by its president, Er Syed Parvez Safvi, impressed upon the latter to relax the eligibility criteria for the local investors enabling them to bid for the local power projects.
The delegation also demanded 30 per cent separate quota in the upcoming hydro power projects for the locals.
Giving details of the meeting, Safvi told Greater Kashmir on phone that the association had been invited by the J&K State Power Development Corporation to Jammu to discuss “the way forward for development of hydroelectric projects through local entrepreneurs in IPP mode.”
He said the other members of the delegation were Er. Nazir Ahmed Rather, Association’s District President Bandipora, and Er Ashih Sharma, District President Jammu.
The meeting was chaired by MD J&K SPDC Basharat Ahmed.
