COALITION A COMPULSION: LAL SINGH
Jammu, Nov 16: A Member Parliament of ruling Congress Friday said the alliance with National Conference in Jammu and Kashmir was a compulsion for the party.
“We have compulsion to be in alliance with National Conference which on one hand created hurdles in empowerment of Panchayats and on the other all the development projects launched by the previous Government headed by Ghulam Nabi Azad were abandoned,” Choudhary Lal Singh said here.
“Jo building hum nay banai, in nikamay logon say chat tak nahin daali gayi (these useless people have not even managed to lay roof on the buildings constructed by our Government,” he alleged.
Referring to the recent statement by NC leader Mustafa Kamaal, Choudhary said, “If someone abuses my country, he is anti-national and most shameful person in this world. Kamaal’s remarks are totally nonsense and rubbish. It is not enough to term him insane.”
When asked about delay in empowerment of Panchayats, Lal Singh said, “In our election manifesto we had assured to empower Panchayti Raj Institutions in the State but we have only 17 seats in the coalition Government, so we are compelled to bear the whimsical attitude of the coalition partner.”
Singh said, “As per our commitment we have given representation to a Sarpanch for MLC seat, who also belongs to Schedule Caste community.”
Reacting to Thursday’s attack on a liquor shop in Srinagar, Lal Singh said militants should be dealt with an iron hand. He however said liquor should be banned as it has consumed many lives.
