Dr Balkhi to continue as Dean Fisheries
Srinagar, Nov 16: Dr.Syed Masood-ul-Hassan Balkhi (Chief Scientist) has been appointed as Dean, Faculty of Fisheries for another term of 5 years in the Sher-e-Kashmir University of Agricultural Sciences & Technology of Kashmir.
Dr Balkhi was made (Founder) Dean of the Faculty of Fisheries in December 2005 by Governor of Jammu & Kashmir State, an official statement said.
“The post being substantive, it was advertised at National level in May, 2012 and the interviews were conducted in September, 2012 by the selection committee comprising 5 members including Vice-Chancellor SKUAST, three other Vice-Chancellors from outside the state and Commissioner/Secretary Agriculture Production from Govt of Jammu & Kashmir,” it said.
Dr Balkhi has more than 20 years of administrative and other relevant experience for the post. Some of his achievements are the establishment of Faculty of Fisheries in J&K (Ist & the only Faculty in India with Hill/Coldwater Fisheries), starting of Bachelor's, Master's and doctoral degree programmes in Fisheries Sciences, winning of various externally funded projects for research & development (infra-structure/human resource).
