Police detain Shah, Mir, others
Srinagar, Nov 16: Chairman of Democratic Freedom Party Shabir Ahmed Shah and other separatist leaders on Friday accused the Jammu and Kashmir Police of harassing them on gunpoint.
Taking to Greater Kashmir, Shah said: “We were on way to address a gathering at Arihal Pulwama, when policemen from Sangam, led by a DSP stopped us at Sangam Bridge. They misbehaved with us when we objected to their behavior they pointed their guns towards us.”
Shah said that hundreds of commuters who were traveling on Highway were irked with the behavior of policemen, “They came down from their vehicles and resorted to sloganeering against the police action.”
Later Shah and other separatist leaders including Javed Ahmed Mir, Shabir Ahmed Dar, Zameer Shah and Muhammad Yousuf Naqash were taken into custody and lodged at police station Sangam.
