Indoor Stadium coming up in Jammu: Chib
Jammu, Nov 17: The 2nd KC Public School Shakuntla Rani Memorial Inter-School Basketball Tournament concluded here on Saturday.
Minister Youth Services and Sports R S Chib was the chief guest.
The 10-day Inter-School Basketball Tournament was organized by the K C Public School in the loving memory of Shakuntla Rani in which 24 teams of both boys and girls participated.
The Minister highlighted the importance of sports and said that it plays vital role in shaping the personality of youth. He said the Union Government is mulling to include the marks obtained in sport activities in overall percentage of the student.
He said an indoor stadium is also coming up adjacent to MA Stadium for which an amount of Rs. 13 crore has been allocated.
The K C Public School Jammu emerged overall victorious of the tournament in both boys and girls categories defeating JP World School, Jammu by 38-18 and Army Public School Akhnoor by 22-08 points in the finals of the tournament.
The Minister gave away trophies, medals and cash prizes to winners and runners-up teams. The medals and cash prizes were also handed over among the best players, refrees and coaches of the participating schools.
Among others, Director, Youth Services and Sports S. Jaipal Singh, Deputy Director, Youth Services and Sports Ashok Kumar and large number of sports lovers were present.
