JKLF also calls for shutdown
GK NEWS NETWORK
Srinagar, Nov 17: JKLF has called for shutdown on Monday to ‘show solidarity with Dr Qasim Faktoo and other prisoners.’
“Dr Muhammad Qasim has spent more than 20 years of his life in jail. His health is fast deteriorating. Even many authorities in this connection have recommended for his release but ironically Government is bent upon prolonging his detention,” said a JKLF spokesman. Meanwhile, Front chairman Muhammad Yasin Malik, who was recently operated upon in Delhi, today arrived here.
“Doctors have decided to remove the stents inside Malik’s kidneys after three or four weeks,” said the spokesman, adding, “Malik is fast recovering but doctors have advised him complete rest.”
Front has also paid rich tributes to its leader Sheikh Abdul Hameed and others who laid down their lives at Aalikadal in 1992. Describing Sheikh Abdul Hameed as one of the pioneers of present struggle, the spokesman said Hameed, Mushtaq Ahmad Lone, Advocate Jamil Chowdhary, Fayaz A Sheikh, Manzoor Ahmad Khan, Mushtaq Ahmad Kuttay and Ghulam Muhammad laid down their lives ‘for the complete freedom of Jammu Kashmir.’ “Today on their martyrdom anniversary we pledge to take their mission to its logical end,” he said.
JKLF has also paid rich tributes to the brother of Muhammad Maqbool Butt, Ghulam Nabi Butt who died on the same date. Paying tributes to Ghulam Nabi Butt, JKLF termed his sacrifices as a benchmark.
JKLF is organizing many programs on the anniversary of these people. “On November 19, a prayer meeting will be held at Mazar-e-Shuhada, Eid Gah, here at 11 AM. On November 20, Hameed Blood Bank will organize a blood donation camp at Abi Guzar here at 11 AM,” the spokesman said.
