ML BACKS GEELANI’S SHUTDOWN CALL

Srinagar, Nov 18: Supporting the shutdown call given by the Hurriyat Conference (G) chairman Syed Ali Shah Geelani  on Dr Qasim Faktoo, the Muslim League Jammu Kashmir has appealed to the people to observe complete strike on Monday.
 In a statement, the ML acting amir Muhammad Yousuf Mir said, “The Supreme Court had in its verdict in 2002 stated that Dr Qasim should be awarded lifer but the seven years he had already spent in jails should be included in his imprisonment term which means he should serve total detention of 14 years. But he is not released from jail even after serving the detention of 20 years.”
 Meanwhile, the League, at a meeting today, paid homage to Dr Qasim’s wife Syeda Asiya Andrabi and their children for their patience and steadfastness.
