DoP launches same-day home delivery of parcels
GK NEWS NETWORK
Srinagar, Nov 1: In a major initiative to improve the Postal Services in Jammu and Kashmir, a new service ‘Home Delivery of parcels up to 8 PM’ was launched today by John Samuel, Chief Postmaster General, J&K. “It will revolutionize the Postal Services in Srinagar and will benefit the people in a big way,” he said.
“To help people get parcels on the same day, Post Office is introducing this innovative service, where the parcels will be delivered to the people at their premises through Post Office mail vehicles up to 8 p.m. during all the working days.” Further, this will also enable to speed up the delivery of parcels received by air through various flights, he said. Samuel said during last year the Department has witnessed more than 100 per cent increase in the parcel business, especially in the Kashmir valley and Ladakh region.
He said the parcel booking centers will be established in Lal Chowk and Karan Nagar Post Offices, apart from Srinagar GPO.
