SADHOTRA CHAIRS HOUSE COMMITTEE MEETING
MASTER PLAN VIOLATIONS
Jammu, Nov 21: A high level meeting of the members of House Committee was today held under the Chairmanship of MLC, Ajay Sadhotra. It discussed the issue regarding the conversion of the residential areas into commercial purposes in violation of Master Plan in the cities of Jammu and Srinagar.
While reviewing the steps taken by the Committee in stopping the rampant conversion of residential areas into commercial in the State particularly in the twin capitals of the State, the Chairman emphasized upon the concerned Officers to fix the responsibilities on those who have violated the rules and regulations and point out the places where these violations have taken place. He warned that stern action would be taken against those found guilty for ignoring the rules framed by the Government and said that nobody is above the law.
The Committee Stressed upon the concerned agencies to utilize all efforts to arrest the further conversion of residential area for commercial purposes.
It may be recalled that the said committee was constituted by the Chairman, Legislative Council, Amrit Malhotra to look into the cases of un-authorized conversion of residential areas into commercial one in violation of the Master Plan and to suggest remedial measures.
Earlier, the Commissioner Secretary, Housing Department briefed the meeting about the latest progress and the action taken by the concerned agencies against the violators. He said the concerned officers are cooperating with the Committee Members to expose the nexuses between the land mafia and erring agencies and added that there is strict vigil on the officers violating the law of the land.
