People sick of present government: Mehbooba
NC Never Allowed Democracy To Flourish: Qarra
SALIL RAINA
Poonch, Nov 22: Opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) chief Mehbooba Mufti Thursday lambasted the state government for what she termed its failure on all fronts and said that people want to get rid of this government at the earliest.
Addressing public rallies at Loran and Poonch in this border district, Mehbooba said what justice people can expect from a party that killed its own worker - Haji Yousuf – in the money-game.
She said Haji Yousuf was NC’s blue-eyed man who used to collect money from those who wanted to become legislators and ministers and when NC leadership feared that the secret is going to be public, Haji Yousuf had to pay a price with his life.
Mehbooba said she has visited all areas of J&K and witnessed the suffering of people at large and everybody wants to get rid of this corrupt and inefficient government.
Accusing the NC-led coalition government of institutionalizing crime and corruption in the state, she said, “large-scale corruption is going on in IAY and NREGA schemes. Number of scams came out. Funds meant for development of cricket were swallowed by Abdullahs. BPL rations never reach to poor people, instead the benefit of these schemes goes to NC workers.”
She said the Chief Minister Omar Abdullah himself admitted that he cannot curb corruption and it’s an indication that Omar has given a free hand to his ministers and legislators and government functionaries to gulp funds meant for development.
She said, “On employment front, Omar Abdullah befooled people by promising to provide jobs to 8th pass. He promised Rs 50 subsidy on gas cylinders and all his promises proved to be false.”
Former Finance Minister Tariq Hameed Qarra said NC was the creator of militancy in J&K as the party always shifts its loyalties from one side to other. He said NC never allowed the democracy to flourish in the state.
Senior Leader Yashpaul Sharma said that PDP is the only option left for the people of J&K as people know the fact that during PDP rule, all the three regions witnessed tremendous development.
