Agri deptt holds farm machinery mela
Budgam, Nov 2: In its drive to organize Farm Machinery Melas throughout the Valley, Director Agriculture Kashmir Dr Farooq Ahmad Lone in presence of District Development Commissioner Muhammad Akbar Ganaie inaugurated “Farm Machinery Mela” at Naraspora Budgam today.
Director Agriculture impressed upon the farmers to adopt latest technology in Agriculture to increase production and productivity.
He said the development of Agriculture and welfare of farming community is top priority of the Department.
He said the objective of organizing Farm Machinery Melas throughout the Valley is to acquaint the farmers with Modern Agriculture Machinery, Tools & Equipments and also help them to avail benefits of various schemes at their doorsteps.
On this occasion DDC stressed upon the farmers to make judicious use of available land. He advised farmers to protect cultivable land for future generation and also emphasized the need for protection from large scale conversion of cultivable land for non-agriculture use. He appreciated the efforts of department for organizing of such Melas.
On this occasion Director Law Enforcement M.S. Katoo said that the main aim of Farm Machinery Melas is to make farmers aware about various Schemes launched by Agriculture Department and facilitate farmers to select the Agriculture machinery and equipments to their own choice at negotiated rates from authorized dealers. Stalls of various authorized dealers were setup in the Mela.
