Barbarshah gets Modern Post Office
MLA hails Samuel
Srinagar, Nov 2: A Modern Post Office was Friday dedicated to the people by Chief Postmaster General, Jammu & Kashmir Circle, John Samuel, at Barbarshah.
“The Modern Post Office presents a new look and it’s a delight to experience the post office visit,” said John adding that already Jawahar Nagar, Pampore, Zakura, Rajbagh and Lal Bazar Post Offices have been modernized.
He said the department plans to modernize all the Post Offices in Srinagar during the current financial year.
“The residents including TN Ganjoo, Prof Muhammad Amin Shola, Shakeel Ahmed and proprietor of Hotel Kashmir Royal Resorts expressed their pleasure on getting a Modernised Post Office,” a handout said.
“The post office will function from 9 AM to 5 PM and will provide facilities like Registered Post, Speed Post, Savings Bank, Insurance facilities,” the handout said adding “Post Shop is a new attraction here.”
MLA Habba Kadal Shameema Firdous, presided over the function. She said that in older days, “people used to treat the Post Office as their own home”.
“But now, the newer generation has lost the connection with Post Office,” she said while expressing happiness over the opening of the facility. She also appreciated the steps taken by John Samuel for “revival of the Post Offices in J&K.”
SSPO Srinagar, ND Prajapati presented the welcome address and SDI North Sub Division Srinagar Ali Muhammad Shah gave vote of thanks.
