Contractual lecturers

This refers to article, "Lecturers or Laborers" by Mehraj Din (GK, Oct 26). Few of my friends who are working either as contractual lecturers or Teaching Assistants have almost completed ten years in the Higher Education Department.  Many of them have crossed their age bars. Government tried the policy of divide and rule when line of division was made by changing their nomenclature and changing their perks by paying contractual lecturers Rs 12,000  per month and teaching Assistants were paid Rs 8000.  Their liabilities cannot wait as their salaries are released after months of delay. But they are still working as they didn’t want to waste the academic session of their students. The promises made to them have not been fulfilled. Their precious years are lost.
