Omar Abdullah receives first batch of Hajj pilgrims
Srinagar, Nov 2: Chief Minister Omar Abdullah Friday received the first batch of Hajj pilgrims who returned from Saudi Arabia this morning after performing the holy pilgrimage.
The Union Minister for New and Renewable Energy Dr Farooq Abdullah and Minister of State for Hajj and Auqaf Aijaz Ahmad Khan were also present on the occasion.
An official spokesman said Omar congratulated the Hajj pilgrims and enquired about the status of arrangements made by the concerned State Department at Saudi Arabia and en route.
“The Hajjis expressed satisfaction over the arrangements and said that during the Hajj days they prayed for peace, prosperity and development of the State and well-being of the mankind,” the spokesman said.
Almost 270 Hajjis returned from Saudi Arabia today. These included 105 women pilgrims.
