Private operators

A significant number of Hajis perform their Haj through private tour operators. They charge huge sums of money for this purpose – sometimes double or more the amount which the government charges. They make tall promises for arranging comfortable accommodation, good and nutritious food and proper arrangements and providing assistance for performing all the relevant rites like tawaf, stay/ travel at Minna, Arfat, Jamrat (stoning of devil). But most of them do not deliver on the promises they make, making the pilgrimage difficult and painful. The government should make some rules to make the private tour operators accountable. Their licences should be renewed every year and that too after verifying their performance and getting feedback from the Hajis.
